Gardaí at Ashbourne are investigating an incident that saw five men and a woman assaulted by a group of people in the early hours of Monday morning.

The incident took place in the Frederick Street area of Ashbourne, Co Meath at approximately 3.20am on Monday, August 1.

According to gardai, five males and one female were assaulted during this incident by a group of people who fled, on foot in the direction of Slane.

Three of the males were removed by ambulance to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.

Speaking on LMFM this morning,  Garda Sharon White of Ardee Garda Station said that one of the attackers was wearing a black hoodie while another was wearing a grey jumper.
