Garda renew Raonaid Murray (17) murder appeal
Gardai are renewing their appeal again for information on the murder of 17-year-old Raonaid Murray.
The appeal comes on the 17th anniversary of the brutal killing of the teenager on September 3, 1999.
As part of the appeal, gardai re-released the known timeline of the night of Raonaid's murder and asked people to share any information they may have, adding: 'You may be unknowingly shielding a killer'.
The gardai also said they are fully committed to catching Raonaid's killer and the full time Incident Room remains in situ at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station.
Raonaid Murray worked at a clothes shop then known as Sally West in Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre.
On the night of her murder, she left the shop at approximately 9pm on September 3, 1999 and went with a friend to Scott’s Public House in Dun Laoghaire.
Raonaid made arrangements with a friend to go to a nightclub later that night and left Scott’s at approximately 11.20pm to go home and change her clothes.
Her house is approximately a 15 minute walk from Scott's Public House.
Her body was found at Silchester Crescent in Glenageary at 12.33am, Saturday, September 4, 1999, less than 500 yards from her home.
Gardai have spoken to many of Raonaid's friends, who are now adults, many with their own families.
Gardai added: "Anybody with any information which could assist in identifying a motive for the murder of Raonaid and, or if any person has any doubts about the veracity of an alibi provided, we would appeal for your immediate assistance."
Gardai said any information received will be treated with 'absolute confidentiality' and said there is a reward available for any critical information.
Raonaid’s family also appealed to the public for any information which may lead to the arrest of her killer.
The Gardai and Raonaid’s family implore anyone with information to contact the Garda Incident Room at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station, phone 01-6665000 / 6665012 or alternatively the Garda Confidential line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
