MEMBERS of a ruthless gang are the prime suspects after the grave of the brother of a man they are believed to have murdered was dug up.

The grave of Michael 'Bobby' Maughan – whose brother William and girlfriend Anna are believed to have been killed – has been completely dug up at the Bohernabreena Cemetery in Tallaght, Dublin.

The disturbing incident occurred in the early hours of this morning, just a day after Michael’s father Joe appealed for information to find the remains of his son who gardaí believe was murdered.

William 'Willie' Maughan (34) and his Latvian girlfriend Anna Varslavane (21) were last seen in April 2015 in Co Meath. They are believed to have been murdered by a specific gang.

Now there are fears that the intimidation has resulted in the grave of William’s younger brother being vandalised by the same gang.

Father-of-four Michael 'Bobby' Maughan (30) passed away from meningitis in April 2008.

It is understand that three men entered the Dublin cemetery after 2am this morning and started digging up Michael Maughan’s grave.

Mr Maughan’s remains were not removed from the grave.

His father Joe described the thugs as “the lowest scum” on earth.

“We know the people that killed William done this... they are cowards,” he said this evening at the side of his son’s grave.

“What kind of people are out there? What happened here is the worst of the worst, but that won’t stop me fighting for justice for my son.

“Me and my family will go to our graves, but we will get justice in the end.

“How low can you get... the gardaí will catch the people who done this,” Joe added

Michael’s young children were distraught as they visited their father’s graveside this afternoon. His heartbroken mother Helen was also distraught, crying as she lay beside her son’s open grave.

Michael’s brother William and his girlfriend Anna are believed to have been murdered because they had information about a gangland murder.

They were last seen alive in the Gormanston area on April 14 last year.
