Former associate of slain boss The Don arrested in Vinnie Ryan probe
A convicted crininal who was a close associate of murdered gang boss Eamonn 'The Don' Dunne was one of the men arrested yesterday in connection with the shooting of Vinne Ryan.
The man was one of two arrested yesterday by detectives investigating the murder of Ryan as he sat in his car in Finglas on February 29.
Yesterday morning, gardai investigating the shooting searched a number of premises in the north and west Dublin areas.
During the course of these searches two men in their 30s were arrested.
One man was detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Finglas Garda Station and the second man was detained under Section 30 of the Offenses Against The State Act, 1939 at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
The former associate of 'The Don' has a large number of previous convictions and he was sentenced to a spell behind bars for possession of a firearm. He also has a conviction for his part in robbing a cash in transit van.
Dunne was shot dead in a pub in Cabra in 2010.
