Gardai seized three cars and arrested five men in a sting on a Limerick burglary gang over the course of yesterday evening and this morning.

Gardai targeting an organised crime gang, believed to be responsible for a number of burglaries in Limerick city and county in recent weeks, have made arrests and seized property.

Yesterday evening, gardai from Roxboro Road arrested a 27-year-old male, found to be driving a vehicle (142-reg BMW), which was one of two vehicles stolen overnight in a burglary in the Castletroy area of the city.

Two laptops were also seized in the second swoop.

In a follow-up planned operation this morning, four males aged between 17 and 20 years were also arrested  in relation to this investigation.

All five males are currently detained at various stations in Limerick city and county pursuant to Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
