Gardai have cordoned off an area of parkland in Clondalkin, west Dublin after a reported sex attack in the early hours of this morning.

Details are not confirmed but early reports say an incident occurred at around 3am on the Ninth Lock Road, near the junction with the Neilstown Road.

The area is at the edge of a section of parkland beside some bushes and just off the footpath.

A large piece of white plastic sheeting has been placed on the ground from the footpath, over a low wall, and into the park.

The area has also been taped off and a member of the gardai is at the scene.

The area will be examined later this morning by members of the garda technical bureau.
