Around €5,000 worth of drugs were found in the gym area of a GAA club.

The drugs are suspected quantities of cocaine and heroin, but officers are still awaiting test results from the labs at Garda HQ.

Officers made the discovery more than a fortnight ago at Kilcoole GAA club in Co Wicklow.

The case is being investigated by Greystones gardai.

The drugs were found in deal bags hidden in a protein canister.

Gardai also found an apparent tick-list, which has been sent for fingerprint and forensic analysis.

Offices searched the clubhouse on Newcastle Road in Kilcoole after they received an anonymous tip-off that drugs were hidden there.

The discovery was made at 3.30pm on January 6.

No arrests have been made yet in relation to the matter.
