Footage has emerged of police officers being shot in Ferguson last night.

The two police officers are reportedly in serious condition following the shooting, which occurred outside the Ferguson Police Department.

One officer was allegedly shot in the face and one in the shoulder, St Louis County police chief Jon Belmar said. Both suffered "very serious gunshot injuries" and are being treated, he added.

Footage has emerged of the moment the two officers were gunned down.

Several gunshots are heard, and a man is then heard groaning. It is unknown whether the groaning is from one of the victims.

Someone is heard shouting that this "wouldn't be happening if you had acknowledged nine months ago", a reference to the official response to the shooting of Michael Brown in August 2014.
