Customs seize cash from woman at Shannon Airport
Revenue officers working at Shannon Airport seized €14,000 in cash from a Chinese woman in her twenties.
They stopped and questioned the woman following routine profiling.
She was boarding a flight to London Heathrow and was to travel from there to Hong Kong.
The cash, which was in denominations of €50, €100, €200 and €500 is suspected of being the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activities.
At Ennis District Court on Wednesday, Judge Patrick Durcan granted a three-month detention order to allow Revenue to investigate further.
These investigations are ongoing.
