Crack garda anti-gang unit supported by Spanish police raid Rialto property

Gardai are hitting various suspected Kinahan gang strongholds today with assistance from officers from Spain’s La Guardia Civil.

Officers were spotted raiding an address in Rialto Cottages this morning while others methodically and thoroughly searched a white Dublin registered car parked outside.

At least six other locations in Clondalkin, Crumlin and Tallaght are being searched.

A spokesperson said gardaí are currently executing a number of search warrants at various locations in Dublin City and County with a view to gathering evidence that would support a prosecution against individuals engaged in serious organised crime.

A spokesman said: "This operation is the culmination of significant investigative activity to date and is supported by other law enforcement agencies including La Guardia Civil who are assisting in today's activity."

Spanish detectives are investigating the murder of 34-year-old Dublin man Gary Hutch, who was shot dead in September 2015 at the apartment complex where he lived near Marbella.

His was the first murder in an ongoing feud between the Hutch and the Kinahan gangs.

A second man, innocent Trevor O'Neill, was also shot while on holiday Spain last month. He was murdered in a case of mistaken identity.
