Couple have two lotto wins in a week with tickets from the same shop
An Irish couple has won more than €100,000 playing separate National Lottery games - just two days apart.
The pair even bought their tickets in the same shop - Eurospar in Duleek, Co Meath.
Last Thursday, the woman won €10,000 on Telly Bingo and just two days later, her retired husband won a whopping €92,652 on Saturday's Lotto, matching five numbers plus a bonus on a Quickpick ticket.
Speaking at the National Lottery's headquarters today, the great grandparents said the Telly Bingo ticket was purchased on the anniversary of their son's death.
Saturday's lotto win came on the anniversary of his funeral.
"We really believe he was up there looking after us. It is such a coincidence that our wins came at this time. On the day of Telly Bingo I had gone to my son’s grave to clean it up and say a prayer," the wife said.
Asked what they will be doing with the money, the couple said: "We won't be going mad!
"We have a few Holy Communions in the family this month so this will certainly help towards that. And we will do a few jobs on the house also."
Meanwhile the shop owner, Michael Bennett, was delighted to have sold the double winning tickets.
"We are thrilled for this couple and for the village. We have come through several years of recession and it is nice to think that the area might be getting a little bit back. It is great for the village."
