Convicted criminal arrested over Christy Keane murder bid
A MAN arrested by Gardaí investigating the attempted murder of Limerick gangster Christy Keane has served jail time for feud-related violence.
The man, who is from Limerick city, has previously been convicted of violence linked to the underworld war that has dogged the mid-west city since 2000.
He was responsible for a violent attack on an associate of Christy Keane.
He is being questioned by Gardai to find out if he has any knowledge of the gun attack on convicted drug dealer Keane yesterday morning. He is not suspected of firing the weapon used in the assassination attempt.
Gardaí probing yesterday’s attack still have to talk to Keane who remains seriously ill in University Hospital Limerick.
They have also appealed to the public for help in tracing the movement of two cars suspected to have been used in the attack, both of which have been recovered.
The cars are a red Ford Focus 132 D registration which was stolen in Dublin and a white English registration Volvo V60 estate.
