An Australian court has been shown footage of the one-punch attack by an Irishman on his younger brother.

Barry Lyttle (33) has pleaded guilty to the attack on his brother Patrick (31) in the early hours of 3 January.

The 33-year-old now faces two years in prison having pleaded guilty at Local Court, but his brother has vehemently pleaded for leniency from the court.

In the footage released, the two brothers are seen in a nightclub in Sydney together before an argument erupts as they're leaving. Younger brother Patrick pushes Barry, who responds by punching him in the face.

Barry immediately recogises his brother is seriously injured and goes to his aid.

The 31-year-old spent a week in an induced coma before making a miraculous recovery.

He today read an emotional impact statement to the court, saying "everyone can see how much my brother has suffered".

Patrick told the magistrate that the only way he could make a full recovery was for his brother Barry to be allowed to go home to Ireland with the rest of their family.
"When my family is healed I will be healed," he said.
The trial continues.
