BREAKING: Teen shot in Limerick City

A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after been shot in Limerick City.

The 17-year old injured youth was shot in the thigh outside a warehouse on Upper Carey's Road.

Emergency services responded to the incident at 10 past 10 this morning.

It's understood the youth fled after the gunman fired and injured him and then made his way to a nearby green area where he collapsed and was discovered by paramedics who treated him at the scene.

The boy was transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where his condition is believed to be stable.

Gardai at Roxboro Road are investigating.
