Police in Germany have found a body not far from the home of kidnapped German teenager Anneli Marie.

The discovery was made late last night at a remote farmhouse in the village of Klipphausen, near her home in the city of Meissen.

The 17-year-old was snatched last Thursday as she walked her dog and her family, who are wealthy business owners, were subsequently contacted by the kidnappers, who demanded €1million for her safe return.

The family released a letter where they said they would pay the ransom but late last night, the abduction appeared to turn into a murder investigation.

"We are working on the assumption it is Anneli," police spokesman Thomas Knaup said.

German police have also arrested two men in connection with the case this morning, one in Bavaria, the other in Dresden.
