Jailed: Shaneka Monique Torres shot up the McDonald's after she received the wrong order - twice

A Michigan woman has been jailed for three to seven years after opening fire at a McDonald's when staff twice failed to put bacon on her burgers.

Shaneka Monique Torres (30) became angry last February when the first burger she ordered at the restaurant's drive-through station was missing bacon.

She was offered a free meal, but reached boiling point when that was also missing rashers.

Understandably upset, Torres pulled out a handgun and fired at an employee behind the drive-through glass.

The court heard that worker Essence Lake was walking away to get another burger when a bullet shattered the window.

No one was injured.

The accused was arrested approximately 30 minutes later at her home, which was located around a mile from the fast-food restaurant.

She told officers she was getting money out of her bag and her phone out of her purse when the gun - a 9mm Glock semi-automatic - "went off."

Torres explained that her gun had no safety and that while she legally owned the gun, she had no permit to carry a concealed weapon.

Judge Paul Sullivan, sitting in Grand Rapids, sentenced her to one to five years for shooting at a building, plus two years for possessing a firearm during a felony.

Torres said she was sorry "but it's over and done with".
