Woman dragged by cord around her neck which was attached to car
A man is in police custody after a woman was dragged through the streets of a German town by a cord which was tied around her neck and attached to a car.
The unidentified 28-year-old woman was discovered on a pavement in Hamelin, Lower Saxony, late on Sunday.
Reports indicate that she suffered serious injuries, underwent an emergency operation and was flown to a specialist clinic.
The woman's ex-partner, who is described as being 38-years-old and from nearby Muender, later handed himself in to authorities.
Both the victim and the suspect are German citizens of Kurdish origin, a police spokesman said.
The motive for the attack is not yet known and police have secured the area where the woman was found and have called for witnesses to come forward.
