UK police hunt man who wore mask during sex attack

An armed man wearing a Yoda mask made a young woman perform a sex act after threatening her with a knife, police said.

Officers from West Midlands Police are investigating after the victim was grabbed from behind in Warwards Lane, Selly Oak, Birmingham, in the early hours of Saturday.

The man, who was said to be wearing a mask of the Star Wars character, exposed himself and made the victim perform a sex act on him before making off, police said.

It follows three similar incidents which have been reported recently where lone young women have been approached by a man in a mask.

In one of these, a man wearing a gorilla mask pushed a passer-by while holding a knife in Lottie Road, and exposed himself on Sunday November 20.

A woman was also threatened on Thursday November 24, by a man in a gorilla mask who exposed himself, with the victim escaping after a struggle.

Detective Inspector Karl Fletcher, from the force's public protection unit, said: "These are extremely serious attacks and we have placed a large number of resources into catching the offender.

"We are now appealing to the public for information to help us trace the man who is believed to be white and aged 40 to 50, around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins tall and slim with short grey hair."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
