Teacher accused of having sex with 15-year-old female student from her school
A New Jersey teacher has been accused of having sex with one of her 15-year-old students.
Lauren Mitchell was arrested on Friday and charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
The allegation is that Mitchell, who teaches second grade (seven to eight year olds) at Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School in Jersey City, had what investigators are calling “inappropriate sexual activity” with a 15-year-old female student from the school.
The New York Daily News say that other teachers at the school noted "inappropriate interactions" between the teacher and the teenager during a recent shool trip and they alerted the authorities.
Mitchell has been locked up on bail of €150,000 and is due back in court on July 7.
