Police hunting cyclist who kicked 19-month-old girl

Police are hunting a cyclist who was seen kicking a 19-month-old girl in Edinburgh.

The incident occurred on a cycle path close to Leith Links on Saturday at about 4.30pm.

Police said the cyclist had deliberately kicked the toddler, who it is understood had been walking with her father, as he rode past.

Officers are now urging witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Mark Wilson, of Leith police station, said: "Thankfully the child was not seriously injured but this was still a distressing and inexplicable incident.

"We are keen to speak to anyone with information that can help us with our inquiries and assist us to trace this suspect."

The suspect was riding a silver mountain bike and was wearing dark jeans and a black hooded jacket. He is described as white, in his mid 20s and of medium build.

He was clean-shaven and had dark scruffy hair.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
