A taxi driver has been jailed for over a year for asking female passengers to urinate in his car in place of paying the fare.

Robert Smith, a 56-year-old grandfather, was jailed for 15 months in Glasgow today.

According to a report in the Glasgow Evening Times, Smith was convicted of asking two women to urinate in his black cab on two separate occasions last year. If they did so he would waive the fare.

The first, a 31-year-old woman, refused to do so despite numerous requests from Smith.

The second, an 18-year-old woman, was scared and attempted to carry out his sick request but failed to do so.

Both women went to the police and identified Smith.

In his defence Smith claimed that the women simply urinated in his car and he did not ask them to do so.

However, he was convicted and sentenced to 15 months behind bars and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
