Mum and boyfriend “duct-taped 4-year-old daughter’s hands and stuffed her in bin bag”
A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with “duct taping” her four-year-old daughter’s hands, putting her in a bin bag and leaving her in a dark basement.
31-year-old Crystal Jedrzekek and her partner Khristopher Newman (34) allegedly dumped the little girl in the unheated basement as punishment for soiling herself on the 16th of November.
The child was taken to hospital with head, facial and body injuries and was suffering with liver trauma.
Police had reportedly gone to their house to investigate child abuse when the pair were arrested.
The girl’s mother, who told police that her daughter had fallen in the bathtub, is now facing corruption and disorderly conduct charges while her boyfriend, Newman, is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Jedrzekek claimed on Facebook that Newman was responsible for the cruel and unusual punishment, writing:
This man [Newman] did this to my daughter! I was not around when things were being done and my children have told the police I was not there when he did this to her.
‘I did not put her in a bag nor tie her hands! I am testifying against this monster to make sure he never hurts another child.’
Newman is currently in jail while Jedrzejek was freed on a $5,000 (€4,600) bond.
The duo are to face a preliminary hearing on December 10.
