Man throws his baby off bridge after custody dispute
21-year-old Tony Moreno flung his baby son off a bridge following a dispute with the child’s mother over custody.
On Sunday night at 11:44pm Moreno messaged his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Adrianne Oyola saying “enjoy your new life without us.”
“Your (sic) not a parent anymore. He’s dead and soon I will be too.”
Moreno had been exchanging text messages with the child’s desperate mother for nearly an hour, arguing over their joint custody.
He then called his own mum and said: “Mom, come down to the Portland bridge and get my phone, and the stroller, so you have pictures of the baby.”
“Just tell everyone I’m sorry.”
Following this the 21-year-old dropped seven-month-old Aaden Moreno off the Arrigoni Bridge and into the Connecticut River.
Investigators said that the child was flung like a “basketball free-throw” into the waters below.
Moreno then leaped off the bridge about 100 feet above the waterway and dived into a section of the river that has a depth of six feet before he was rescued by firefighters and taken to the hospital.
Moreno was arraigned by Judge David Gold in his hospital room and charged with murder, murder with special circumstance (added because the victim was younger than 16) and violating a temporary restraining order on June 26.
