Man stabbed dad to death in Poundland with display knife
36-year-old Trevor Joyce plunged a display knife into the back of Justin Skrebowski (61) as he shopped in Poundland in Abingdon, UK, in December last year.
Mr Skrebowski had been shopping on his wife’s birthday, when the attack happened.
Joyce was arrested the same day and charged with murder and later pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
“This was a completely random and unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public, which is all the more difficult to comprehend,” said detective Inspector Stuart Blaik.
“Joyce has pleaded guilty to manslaughter today on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
“This will not bring Justin back or make up for the loss that his heartbroken family have suffered, but I hope that the conviction will give them some small comfort.’
Joyce is due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey on June 6.
