A 31-year-old man has been jailed after posting an explicit photo of his former partner on his WhatsApp for public viewing.

Charlotte Barnes (22) reported her ex-boyfriend Michael Eastburn to the police when he continued to harass her after she ended their relationship.

Eastburn - who was sentenced to eight and a half months in prison - also tried to humiliate the young woman by using a sexual image of her as his Whatsapp profile photo.

Mum-of-one Charlotte started a relationship with Eastburn, who also has a child from a previous relationship, after they met in a pub in the UK last year.

After three months, Ms Barnes took out a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend when he became violent with her.

He was convicted of assault at the time and given a suspended sentence - but broke the court order repeatedly by contacting her on social media.

Eastburn also dragged Ms Barnes from her friend's house through the living room window before pinning her to the ground.

He attempted to blackmail her with intimate photographs he had taken of Ms Barnes when they were together.

Ms Barnes spoke of her ordeal today as Eastburn was convicted of assault, harassment, criminal damage and the disclosure of private sexual photographs at Hull magistrates' court

"I'm just happy he is now locked up. I can live my life without constantly looking over my shoulder to see if he's following me. I have nightmares where he's stood over my bed," she said.

"The picture didn't have my face on it, but everyone would have known it was me. When I saw the picture, I was devastated - it was horrendous. I couldn't believe it."
