Man charged with murder after death of dad and daughter in house fire
A man in the UK has been charged with murder after a father died trying to save his daughter from a house fire.
Daniel Jones, 28, was charged after Andrew Broadhead, 42, and his eight-year-old daughter Kiera died in the blaze, West Yorkshire Police said.
Jones will also appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Wednesday accused of arson with intent in respect of the fire, the force announced.
Mr Broadhead's wife Sara and their daughter Mia, 12, visited the scene in Ash Crescent, in Wakefield, on Saturday to pay tribute to the pair.
Mrs Broadhead, 35, said: "Andy was a brave hero who managed to save the lives of his wife and eldest daughter. Unfortunately he couldn't save our youngest daughter Kiera and gave his own life trying to save hers.
"He was a very kind man and Kiera was a vibrant, independent loving girl. Our whole family are absolutely devastated by their loss."
Jones, of Spawd Bone Lane, Knottingley, was arrested on Saturday evening in connection with the fire that broke out at around 4.20am on October 19.
