Reports from German media this evening say that a huge police operation is underway after a shooting incident occurred in a Munich shopping centre.

A police cordon has been put in place around the area of the shooting, reports say.

It is thought that the incident occurred at a shopping centre in the Moosach district of Munich.

Germany security forces were already on high alert following a stabbing attack carried out by a migrant on a German train on Monday.

Warnings were issued following Monday’s incident that further attacks could occur.

Munich police have advised people to avoid the area, while workers are apparently unable to leave their shops in the centre where the shooting too place.

The Olympia Einkaufszentrum shopping centre was targeted, but police have not given details about casualties.

Reports suggest that the attack was carried out by one person, while helicopters are said to be circling the scene.
