Molly and Tom Martens’ family have insisted that they killed Jason Corbett in self-defence and will plead not guilty to murder.

32-year-old Molly Martens Corbett and her former FBI agent father Tom Martens (65) appeared in court yesterday charged with second degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

The two were granted bail in North Carolina, US, on the condition they lodged $200,000 (€186,000) each.

They must also surrender their passports and cease any contact with Jason Corbett’s family, specifically his two children.

Superior Court Judge Theodore Royster agreed to the bail conditions.

Both remained silent during the appearance and no date has yet been set for trial.

39-year-old father-of-two Jason Corbett died from head injuries at his home in North Carolina in April of this year.
