ISIS post gruesome clip of men being strung up and burned alive
Members of the Islamic State have posted a gruesome clip in which four men are strung up and burned alive.
The horrific murders, the group said, were retribution for the alleged killing of Islamic State fighters by pro-government forces last week.
Footage of Abu Azrael, known as the 'Iraqi Rambo', carving up a dead Islamic State fighter's body after he was burned alive emerged at the weekend.
Azrael allegedly burned one of the militants alive before hanging him from an electricity pylon in the city of Baiji. He is seen carving the dead man's corpse up with a long sword before speaking to the camera.
According to Al-Jazeera, the fighter says: "They sent their elite fighters they said, and look at the third one we got. Isis this will be your fate, we will cut you like shawarma."
In response to the footage, ISIS released a clip showing the execution of four Shi'ite fighters from the pro-government Popular Mobilisation unit from southern Iraq.
“Now retribution has come, for today, we will attack them as they attacked us, and punish them as they punished us,” a militant wearing a mask says in the video.
Forced to wear orange boiler suits, the prisoners each introduce themselves to the camera, giving their names and a brief description of their role in fighting ISIS.
The men are then led to a swingset and suspended over a flammable powder before being set on fire. The footage is too gruesome to publish.
It is the latest in a series of depraved executions posted online by the group. It is unknown when the footage was filmed but reports suggest the murders occurred in the last several days.
