The death of a man in his 40s, whose body was found dead near Tralee General Hospital at 7am this morning, is being investigated by the Garda Ombudsman

The Gardai Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is involved as the man had been arrested last night for public order offences near his home in Killarney.

He was brought to Killarney Garda Station but shortly after arrival he was transferred by ambulance to Tralee General Hospital.

Because of this GSOC investigators have been deployed to the scene, near Kelliher's Garage in Rathass, and will examine the circumstances of the death.

GSOC are appealing for information for anyone who encountered the man in the early hours of the morning and they can be contacted on 1890 600 800.
