Five children aged between three and seven years-old have been discovered dead inside a freezer.

It is believed that they became trapped while playing and suffocated to death.

The kids, who were cousins, were found by their grandmother.

The horrific incident took place in Kakamas in South Africa.

Local police spokesman Major Dimakatso Mooi appealed to parents to take responsibility and to ensure their kids’ safety at all times.

"Children should not be left unattended, and yards must be cleared of old equipment and scraps that can cause harm to children," Mooi said in an African News Agency report.
