Scotland Yard have released the first images of the aftermath of the massive bank vault robbery in London over the Easter weekend

The robbery netted the crooks £60million (€83m) in jewels as they cleaned out 70 safety deposit boxes in the raid at Hatton Garden in London, in the very heart of the city's diamond district.

The most incredible picture shows the thickness of the wall they drilled through to reach the vault, which is half-a-metre thick.

Other images show the damage and debris left behind from the raid, plus some of the implements used by the gang for the lucrative theft.

There have been no arrests thus far and police in the UK fear that the gang, and their ill-gotten gains, are already outside the country.
