Cruel gangster's body found dismembered in woodland
An evil gangster who was one of Scotland's most wanted men has been found dismembered in woodland.
Martin Hamilton, known as the 'Blackhill Butcher', was jailed in 2000 for a series of horrific crimes and he was released on licence in 2014.
However, he breached the terms in April of this year, sparking a manhunt.
His chopped-up body was discovered by a dog walker earlier this month in woodland in West Lothian, between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
During his trial, the court heard how Hamilton tortured young drug addicts. Two were stabbed through the cheek and had boiling water poured over them while Hamilton tried to cut another's finger off.
In a seperate incident, an attempt was made to gouge a man's eye out with a spoon.
His death is being treated as 'unexplained'.
On the BBC, Det Supt Kenny Graham said: "My condolences go out to the family of Martin Hamilton, who have had to receive such devastating news so close to Christmas.
"A team of officers is dedicated to this inquiry, so we can seek to give them answers as quickly as possible.
"We are continuing to conduct examinations with various scientific experts to establish exactly when and how Mr Hamilton died, and to ensure any evidence available can be captured from the scene and from the remains themselves."
