Couple jailed for creating indecent images and videos of own kids
Two people have been jailed for six-and-a-half years each after admitting creating indecent images and videos of their own children.
A 47-year-old man and 34-year-old woman from Bedford, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted carrying out the series of sexual offences in what officers called a "stomach-churning series of crimes".
One of the victims was incited to use a sex toy while being filmed, Bedfordshire Police said.
Officers said the woman pleaded guilty to two charges of making indecent photographs of children, one count of distributing an indecent photograph of a child and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The man pleaded guilty to two counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing an indecent photograph of a child.
The victims were both under 16 at the time of the crimes, and their parents were jailed after appearing at Luton Crown Court.
Detective Constable Sarah Brookes, from the Bedfordshire Police Safeguarding Unit, led the case and said: "This was a particularly stomach-churning series of crimes, in which two young girls were coerced by those in a position of trust into performing vile acts for the offenders' sexual gratification.
"Though they may be too young to realise the full extent of what has happened to them, these offences will no doubt stay with these innocent victims for life. For this reason I am pleased the courts have issued a custodial sentence and this repulsive pair will spend time behind bars."
