A husband and wife, believed to be part of an infamous family gang, have been arrested in connection with attempted murder.

Patrick Adams, 59, and Constance Adams, 55, face extradition from Holland having been held by Dutch authorities on Friday when a European Arrest Warrant was issued on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.

The duo are wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Islington, north London, in December 2013, Scotland Yard said.

A 51-year-old man was shot in the chest as he sat in his black BMW X5 car after being approached by a man and a woman.

He was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital where he was treated for his injuries for more than a month.

Police are now waiting for the couple to be extradited to England.
