Trial of professional boxer Jamie Kavanagh put back a year
Professional boxer Jamie Kavanagh has had a trial date fixed for 2017 on a charge of violent disorder.
Mr Kavanagh (26), of Mourne Road, Drimnagh, Dublin but now living in the UK where he has a professional career, was sent forward for trial from the district court on the charge which is alleged to have occurred at Harcourt Street on September 23, 2014.
His trial was due to begin next week at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court but was yesterday adjourned on consent due to the illness of a witness.
Judge Melanie Greally set a new trial date of June 14, 2017 and told the defence to advise Mr Kavanagh, who was not required to be present, of the new date.
The trial is expected to last two to three days.
