Three men have appeared in court charged in connection with an attempted robbery in Dublin.

The three, Julian O’Connor of St Brigid’s Road, Derek Mitchell of Moatview Avenue, Coolock, and Patrick Macken of The Sycamore, Clonshaugh Woods, were among seven people arrested after gardaí stopped and searched a van in Artane on Friday afternoon.

Mr O’Connor is charged with having tools with intent to carry out a burglary and possession of an imitation firearm.

He was refused bail.

His two co-accused are facing the same charges.

They were granted bail and are due back in court in May while Mr O’Connor will appear before Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday.

The four others arrested were released without charge.
