A 13-year-old killer will be sentenced today for the murder of a mugging victim who suffered a bleed on the brain.

The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, was found guilty of killing Glynis Bensley after a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court in March.

Ms Bensley, 47, was on her way home from a pub in Smethwick, West Midlands, in September last year when she was mugged and injured.

The victim was hit by the 13-year-old, making her fall to the ground, before he stamped on her face with such force that his footprint was left on her cheek.

Zoheb Majid, 20, of Cheshire Road, Smethwick, was convicted of robbery and manslaughter and will also be sentenced today.

The trial heard that Ms Bensley was initially struck by the younger defendant, who was joined within seconds by Majid.

The pair then turned their victim over, stealing property from her pockets, before she was stamped on in Cheshire Road, Smethwick.
