Teen thief jailed
A YOUTH, who stole four bicycles from a north Dublin train station, was given a four-month custodial sentence today.
Judge John O'Connor noted at the Dublin Children's Court that the 17-year-old had not co-operated with the Probation Service which has been trying to help the youth address his offending behaviour.
The teenager had been found unsuitable for an 80-hour community service order.
The boy was a cannabis user and had also been asked to leave a training course, the court had also heard at an earlier stage when another negative probation report was furnished to the court..
The boy, who was accompanied to court by his father, admitted stealing four bikes from Balbriggan train station on three dates on June last year. He also admitted possessing bolt-cutters for use in a theft offence on two dates in the same month.
