A DUBLIN teenager who allegedly led gardai on a high-speed pursuit after stealing a car in Co. Kildare, has been remanded in custody.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named because he is a juvenile, appeared before Judge Alan Mitchell at the Dublin Children's Court today but did not apply for bail.

He is charged with two counts of dangerous driving by speeding at the Fonthill Road and Nangor Road in Dublin, not paying for €20 worth of petrol at garage in Newcastle Co. Dublin, and motor theft which is alleged to have occurred on Tuesday.

The west Dublin boy who was accompanied to court by a family member and his solicitor did not move a bail application and consented to being remanded in custody for one week.

Gardai are to object to bail.

The teenager, who has not yet entered a plea, was granted free legal aid.
