Teen allegedly dragged garda to the ground by the hair

FOUR gardai had to pull a teenage girl off a garda who was allegedly dragged to the ground by her hair during an incident at a Dublin station, a court has heard.

The girl, aged 17, is charged with assault causing harm to the officer at Mountjoy Garda station in Dublin on a date last April.

She appeared at Dublin Children's Court today where Judge John O'Connor heard it was alleged the incident happened after the girl had been reported missing from care.

The teen presented herself at the Garda station and was allegedly told she would have to brought back to her accommodation.

It was alleged at that point the teenager grabbed the female officer by her hair and pulled her to the ground. The court was it took four gardai to pull the teen off their colleague.

Judge John O'Connor accepted jurisdiction for the case to be dealt with in the Children's Court. The teenager, who is on bail, was ordered to appear again in two weeks when she will be expected to enter a plea.
