Murder accused spotted leaving shopping centre in change of clothes
A man accused of murder was seen on CCTV entering a shopping centre and leaving in a change of clothing on the day a man was shot dead, a jury at the Central Criminal Court has heard.
Keith O'Neill (39) from Lissadell Drive, Drimnagh in Dublin has pleaded not guilty to murdering John Wilson (35) on September 28th, 2012 at his home on Cloverhill Road, Ballyfermot Dublin 10.
Garda Alan O'Mahony told Conor Devally SC prosecuting yesterday that the accused man was present on CCTV footage entering Liffey Valley shopping centre and leaving in a change of clothing.
On Friday Mr Anthony Sammon SC defending made an admission on behalf of the accused that it is accepted that the person captured on CCTV is Mr Keith O' Neill and that he left Liffey Valley centre at 19.19 on September 28th 2012.
Doctor Sheila Willis of Forensic Science Ireland confirmed with Mr Sammon that when items are being harvested for an investigation, that best practise is to pack, seal and label them.
Mr Sammon asked Dr Willis if a forensic scientist had the right to refuse evidence which could potentially be contaminated to which she replied "yes".
The trial continues tomorrow before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and a jury of five women and seven men.
