Mum of baby who was mauled by pitbull to appear in court

The mother of a six-month-old baby who was mauled to death by a dog in the UK is due to appear in court today.

Molly Mae Wotherspoon died after a pitbull attacked her in Morning Star Road, Daventry, on October 3 2014

Her mother, Claire Riley, 23, of Northampton, is charged with being a person in charge of a dangerously out of control dog which caused injury to Molly Mae resulting in her death.

She is set to appear at Northampton Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.

Molly Mae's grandmother Susan Aucott, 55, of Alfred Street, Northampton, appeared in court in December and entered a plea of not guilty to the same charge.

A trial has been fixed for Stafford Crown Court starting on June 7.
