A 30-year-old mum who was disqualified from driving led gardai on a high-speed chase with her two-year-old child on the back seat.

Jolanda O'Driscoll, from Heathfield Crescent, Finglas was on the way to collect her children from school when she spotted gardai and drove off at high speed.

Blanchardstown District Court heard that the defendant drove at speed away from gardai because she panicked as she was already banned from driving.

The court heard that O’Driscoll was driving a Volkswagen Passat and sped off when she spotted gardai.

Gda Robbie Byrne said that she drove at high speed through a number of areas in Finglas, forcing other road users to brake hard.

When she finally came to a stop in Wellmont Park, gardai spotted a two-year-old child in the rear seat.

O’Driscoll, who has 21 previous convictions, including two for driving without insurance, was sentenced to 28-days in prison and has been disqualified from driving for a total of seven years.
