Mother and two sons charged with assault
A DUBLIN mother and two of her sons are facing trial accused of taking part in assaults on a man and woman.
The woman, who is in her forties and her sons, aged 20 and 17, who cannot be named because the youngest defendant is still a minor, appeared at the Dublin Children's Court today.
They are accused of causing damage to a door at a house in their north Dublin neighbourhood where a party was taking place on October 14th, 2014.
She is accused of assault causing harm to a named woman while her sons are also accused of assaulting a man, causing him harm.
The 20-year-old has an additional charge for producing a metal bar as a weapon during a fight in connection with the incident.
They were remanded on bail by Judge John O'Connor to appear again on a later date.
A preliminary hearing is to take place to determine whether their trial will remain in the juvenile court or go to the circuit court which has tougher sentencing powers.
They have not yet entered a plea to the their charges.
