Monaghan man accused of IRA membership

A book of evidence has been served on a Monaghan man accused of IRA membership today.

James Joseph Cassidy (53), of Tullycollive, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan is charged before the three-judge, non-jury Special Criminal Court with membership of an unlawful organisation, styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise Oglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the IRA on September 21st, 2016.

Today, State solicitor Michael O'Donovan told the court that the book of evidence was ready to be served on the accused man.

Mr Justice Tony Hunt, presiding, sitting with Judge John O'Hagan and Judge Ann Ryan, remanded Mr Cassidy on continuing bail until April 24th, when his case is listed for mention again.
