Man dead following workplace accident
A man in 60s has died following a workplace accident in Newport, Co Limerick.
Reports indicate that the man died when the cab a truck fell on him as he worked on the engine below.
Paramedics attended the scene at Ballymackeogh, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are treating it as a tragic accident,” said Inspector Oliver Henry of Nenagh garda station
The deceased is understood to have been a mechanic at the garage, where trucks, tractors and other commercial vehicles are serviced and repaired.
His remains are to be removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem.
Gardaí at Newport and Nenagh are investigating and the Health and Safety Authority has been notified.
