Man charged with murder of Noel Kirwan refused bail
A 26-year-old man charged with the murder of Noel Kirwan has been refused bail by the High Court today.
Jason Keating, of Lower Main Street, Rush, Co. Dublin is charged with the murder of Noel Kirwan (62) outside his house at St Ronan’s Drive, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 on December 22, 2016.
Mr Keating had sought bail in the High Court today. However, the State objected to the application.
Inspector Mark O’Neill told the court he believed that if released on bail Mr Keating would commit further offences and might not stand trial.
The court also heard evidence from Chief Superintendent Lorraine Wheatley who said she was objecting to bail under Section 2(A) of the Bail Act.
The section allows a Chief Superintendent give evidence that the refusal of bail is necessary to prevent the commission of a serious offence.
Mr Justice Paul Butler rejected Mr Keating’s bail application under section 2 of the Bail Act 1997.
Mr Keating was remanded in custody.
