A Dublin man is charged with producing child pornography and sexually assaulting a young girl.

Kevin Muldoon (32) is alleged to have committed the offences on dates last year, and is further accused of possession of nearly 1,000 images of child pornography.

The locations of the alleged offences cannot be published by court order.

Mr Muldoon is charged with three counts of sexual assault on a girl and one of producing child pornography at one location in north county Dublin on a date in May 2014.

He is also charged with possession of child pornography at a second address in the Fingal area on another date a week later.

It is alleged that there were 970 images of children with their genitals exposed or engaged in sexual acts.

Following submissions from the prosecution and the defence, the judge ruled that the accused could be identified but not the locations of the alleged offences.

The judge urged the press not to publish Mr Muldoon’s home address.

“A person who is charged with an offence stands innocent before the court,” Judge Gibbons said.

“Just because you are charged with an offence doesn’t mean any more than that.”

Judge Conal Gibbons gave the defendant the formal warning that he must provide any alibi details within 14 days.

Judge Gibbons remanded him in custody with consent to bail once Mr Muldoon is able to take it up.
