A man who was abusive to a Guard who tried to break up a fight he was having with another man has been barred from every pub in the capital for six months.

A report on Herald.ie says that John Collins, from Avilla Park in Finglas, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated and using threatening and abusive behaviour at Cardiffsbridge, Finglas West on March 8.

Garda Keith Collins told Blanchardstown District Court that Gardai were called to an incident involving Collins and another man but when the Gardai tried to stop the fight Collins became verbally abusive.

Defence solicitor Simon Fleming said that the father of two had sorted out the issue with the man he was fighting with and admitted that drink was a factor on the night. Collins also apologised to the Gardai after the incident.

Judge Alan Mitchell convicted and fined him €200 for the threatening and abusive language and €100 for being intoxicated.

He also barred Collins from entering any licenced premises in Dublin for six months.
